I did finally get my rear brake shoes, so I have all the parts I need to update the front and rear sprockets and rear brakes. Once the engine was running, I took her for 10 mile ride and the bike ran well. Rather I have been twisting the throttle during the starting procedure. So I did a little investigation on starting procedures and discovered from reading the Owners Manual, that one should "leave the throttle closed" during the starting process. Keep in mind, this is model does not have an electric start. It took awhile, but I finally got the bike started.

I used the tip that LDR gave me on how to lock the Motion-Pro chock in place when starting the bike. The weather in western Colorado certainly cooled down. Got back to town after nearly two weeks away. Probably sitting in a container close to LA. I think there is a world wide shortage on those things. Also, I am still waiting for the rear brake shoes.

The plan is to install the new sprockets along with a new chain when the weather gets cold. My local dealer helped me get these parts. As you can see the drive sprocket is Honda OEM. I am keeping the idle a bit on the high side the engine seems to like that better than low idle. Anyway, once the engine gets going, it seems to warm up quickly. Have been using a clothes pin to help out. There are no stops built into the cable so its difficult to hold the cable and kick the engine over no electric start on this model.

I am not all that happy with the aftermarket choke cable from Motion Pro and MP seems to be the only source for this cable. Weather is finally cool enough to don the old motorcycle jacket. Have been enjoying riding the bike around the north side of GJ. (Not quite the same tone as Max Verstappen's Red Bull! Ain't F1 a kick in the pants!) Finally got a chance this morning to take her out for nice ride in the country and the evil sound is gone and I all I hear is a great little Honda engine. Guess what? The back up wiring solved the constant turn signal issue. So I installed the backup speedo and idiot gauges and also used the wiring that came with the back up gauges. When I removed the idiot light gauge it sounded like a baby's rattle when you shook it that might have been part of the problem. I want to thank Steve for his comments and will get into the old gauges in the future, but luckily I had a back up set. However, the evil sound from the gauge cluster was still there. Took it for ride to make sure no leaks and the bike did great. The valves were surprisingly close to spec, in fact the intake settings were right on but we did tweak the exhaust side on both cylinders. I also spent some time adjusting cables and brakes.

Last Thursday, with some help from my friend John, we adjusted the valves and installed the new gasket and grommets. I have been a bit quite waiting to get a few things done on the bike.
